Greek Mythology

Poseidon is the God of the sea, and just as his domain, he is wondrous, wild, and fickle. Always unpredictable, he might grant the fisherman a bountiful catch, or sweep him away in a horrid storm.

Role

Hot-blooded, terribly powerful, and easily angered, the Poseidons might not be suited to lead and counsel, but they sure know how to command respect. They protect seas and rivers, making sure that they remain clean and unpolluted…this time.

Main powers

Storm, wind, and waves.

Hades

Greek Mythology

The ruler of the underworld is righteous, although stern, and unlike his brothers, rarely moved by passion or anger. Everything under the surface – including riches and precious metals – belongs to him.

Role

The balance is all to any Hades. They ensure that life is followed by death, so that new life might be born. These deities are just, stern and impartial. And they need to be, because trimming mortals requires unclouded eyes and a heart of stone.

Main powers

Power over the souls, invisibility, and control over the Earth’s riches.

Hera

Greek Mythology

She is the Queen of the Gods, the goddess of marriage and childbirth, as well as the jealous wife of Zeus. Although gentle, she can become a vengeful fury if angered. She is the strongest of all the goddesses, capable of defeating any of them with just two barehanded blows.

Role

Heras are strong and fierce. They use their power to protect life and the ones who create it: women. No one, be it mortal or divine, shall lay a hand upon a woman in front of a Hera and survive. In this new world, men and women will be truly equal. Heras will make sure of that.

Bless and curse, incredibly strong, mind control.

Athena

Greek Mythology

A divine being born from Zeus’ head, Athena is a wise and merciful warrior goddess, and she protects and helps heroes in their impossible deeds.

Role

An Athena is a counselor in peace and a strategist in war. They love knowledge, and they are smart and wise enough to use their knowledge to help others. Whenever conflict arises, an Athena tries to broker a peace. If there is no other way, Athenas resolve it with the minimum number of casualties.

Main powers

Inventing, military strategy, exceptional fighting skills.

Ares

Greek Mythology

Ares is a god of war, but unlike his half-sister, the merciful Athena, he is bloodthirsty, destructive, and brutal. Ares fights guided by sheer instinct and physical prowess and has little time for trivial matters such as strategy or honor.

Role

Ares. A race of warriors. Nothing matters to them more than courage, strength, and fury. They enjoy fighting for the sake of fighting, and they are always looking for a way to prove their worth. In this new world, they shall grant humans and gods alike the strength to endure, and the will to fight.

Main powers

Brute force, exceptional fighting skills, exceptional instinct.

Apollo

Greek Mythology

Apollo is the twin brother of Artemis, and he is the god of many things: music and poetry, logic and reason, the Sun and the light, healing and diseases. He is an incredible archer, and defeated many horrid monsters with his bow.

Role

No one can deny the beauty of the Apollos, nor their righteousness. Always looking for harmony, these deities seek to create an enlightened society, and they use reason to define laws and rules, creating order without oppression. They cannot abide the Dionysus.

Main powers

Perfect aim, healing and infecting, divine reasoning.

Artemis

Greek Mythology

Artemis is the virgin goddess of the hunt and the deity of the Moon. Just like her brother Apollo, she is an incredible archer, and she, too, can control sicknesses and diseases.

Role

Pure in soul and body – and perhaps a bit prude, mysterious and unattainable, Artemises are creatures who have consecrated themselves to a higher goal, and they care little for anything else. They inspire greatness and resilience in anyone who strives for a dream, guiding them with the sure step of a hunter.

Main powers

Perfect aim, healing and infecting, exceptional huntress.

Aphrodite

Greek Mythology

Daughter of Cronos, motherless, born out of a gruesome, revolting act, she is nonetheless the most beautiful goddess. She is love, she is desire, she is sensuality and passion.

Role

Aphrodites are passion incarnate. Always burning with love, lust, ambition and desire, they cannot be bound, and they are never sated. Without them, no one would ever seek anything, no animal would look for a mate, and love would not exist.

Main powers

Perfect beauty, control over love, desire, and fertility.

Demeter

Greek Mythology

Demeter is a nature goddess, but a gentle, civilized and motherly one. She is the deity of agriculture, and she presides over the harvest, the grains, and the fertility of the earth.

Role

A Demeter is gentle, tender, and truly good. They like taking care of others, and they do it with unmatched sweetness. Thanks to them, no one will ever have to starve in Elysium.Main Powers

Hermes

Greek Mythology

A messenger, a thief, a traveler, a merchant: Hermes is many things, and all of them are quick-witted, restless, and nimble. He is the herald of the gods, the fastest of them, and a true brazen-faced trickster.

Role

Hermes do not care much for calm and tranquility. They like adventures and adventurous people. Quick-witted, quick-tongued, and definitely too forward, they can be a handful to deal with, but they always end up being a lot of fun. They preside over any exchange of wealth, even those that aren’t exactly…well, legal.

Main powers

Incredible speed and nimbleness, tricks and illusions.

Hephaestus

Greek Mythology

Even though his mother Hera abandoned him, casting him off the Olympus for his lameness, Hephaestus used his unmatched skills to become the blacksmith of the gods. No one can beat his incredible craftsmanship.

Role

Skillful, dedicated, and extremely talented, Hephaestus are true artists, and they take pride only in their work. In Elysium, they supervise creativity and production, helping the new humanity to live surrounded by things that are as functional, sustainable, and beautiful as inhumanly possible.

Control fire and metal, incredible craftsmanship, infuse life into non-living things.
